Career Objectives

 

            Short Term goals are to find a support position utilizing my many skill sets.

 

Current certifications:  A+, N+, MCP 2000/XP. CNE 6.5, Compaq Certified and management trained.

 

Helpdesk: Supported a 300+ user base on a daily basis. Communicated through emails and phone calls to give 1st through 3rd level support on all issues.

 

Desktop support:  Supported 300+ user base in multiple locations around the state of Texas.

 

LAN administration: Created & Maintained accounts in Novell through ConsoleOne and imanager.  Also created account on the Microsoft side using the Account management tool in Active directory.  Also monitor server status through ConsoleOne and PC/Anywhere.  Configured PC and reloaded production machines with Desktop DNA and Microsoft File transfer wizard.  Created images in Zen and Norton Ghost to expedite machine loads for desktops, support and over the network.

 

Purchasing: 

Created accounts with CDW, More Direct, Computer Tech Tech-depot, Zones, PC Mall and B&H Audio/Video.  Priced out hardware and software solutions to save money and create productivity.  Also build relationships with the sales reps to get great pricing.

 

Inventory:  Created Access databases to track purchases, current inventory and licensing. Also, use Image-right to store invoice and purchase records.

 

Licensing: Created a database to track and store licensing information, tracking expiration dates and maintenance agreements.

 

Hardware Repair: Maintained and repaired Servers, PC’s, Monitors and other various networking components.  Setup accounts with vendors for warranty repair and recycling of old broken equipment. Setup account on eBay to sell good used equipment for the company and made almost $10,000 back in profit for the company.  The IT staff was 75K under budget for the year.

 

Supported software: Microsoft 2000, XP OS systems.  NT2000 Novell 9.x. servers.  Groupwise 6.5 client and Groupwise messenger.  ConceptOne, Imageright, Formaker, BCC, Rackley Rating, Silver plume, Office 2004, XP, 2000.  Citrix client,  Metaframe administrator and Terminal services. Novell iFolder, iPrint, and iManager. Adobe Professional  5.1 -6.01.  MS Viso 2003-4, Peach Tree accounting and many more.

LAN Admin and general do it all IT guy.

 When working I handle the System setup, security, Hardware/Software and usually most IT functions.  I am a one man show capable of handling it all.

Biographical Information

My name is Matthew Thompson and I have been interested in cars and racing since I was a small child.  Since I have had cars as a hobby and I cannot ever seem to get away from them.  It’s now culminated into a passion.  So I created this website to share my experiences with everyone.
